OKI MFP This product has the following restrictions and issues. Please be sure to read this before using. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Issues ====== When a WIA driver is already installed, uninstall it manually and then install it again. To uninstall the WIA driver manually, follow the procedure below: (1) Open [Scanners and Cameras] in [Control Panel]. (2) Right-click the WIA driver you want to uninstall. (3) Select [Delete]. (4) Restart the PC. (5) Delete the C:\Windows\system32\okmbes folder. (Note that the folder path may vary depending on the drive where the OS is installed.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MB7x0/ES71x0 MFP Version 8.3.8.0 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To use MB7x0/ES71x0 MFP, perform the settings according to the procedure below. (1) Open [Scanners and Cameras] in [Control Panel]. (2) Right-click the WIA driver you want to connect to the MFP. (3) Select [Properties]. (4) Select [Device Setting] tab and click the [Discover] button. (5) The local search function is available. Make a local search. This software supports the following models: MB760 MB770 ES7170 MFP Issues ======== 1. Notes on Using the WIA Driver (1) Touch Panel during WIA Connection - During WIA scan, the operation panel only displays special screens for RemoteScan. - By pressing the [CANCEL] button on the operation panel, a WIA connection session can be forcibly terminated. * Buttons other than [CANCEL] are disabled. * Canceling from the client application or a TopAccess scan job is possible. * WIA scan connection continues until image transfer to the client PC is finished. Therefore, it may take several minutes before other operations become available after the scan is completed. (2) Restrictions on the WIA Driver - No notification report is transmitted whether WIA scan is completed normally or abnormally. (3) When using Microsoft Office XP, SP2 or higher is required. (4) When using Windows Server 2003, set the startup type for the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service to [Automatic] using the management tool beforehand. 1. Right-click [My Computer]. 2. Select [Manage]. 3. Click [Services and Applications]. 4. Click [Services]. 5. Double-click [Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)]. 6. On the [General] tab, select [Automatic] in the [Startup Type] box. 7. Click [Apply] and [OK]. (5) Only one driver can be installed. Installation of several drivers is not supported. (6) When you use Photoshop to scan a document, an error message may appear when scanning is completed. However, it has no effect on scanning. (7) When you use an imaging application to scan a document, configure the following settings before scanning: When the settings have not been configured, scanned images become black. 1. Select [Tools] -> [Options] -> [Scan] from the imaging application menu bar. 2. Click the [Advanced] button. 3. Check [Native]. (8) When you use Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard to scan a document, the resolution defined in the properties description for a saved file may be incorrect. In such a case, use File Downloader or the TWAIN driver to save the document in a file. (9) When you use Photoshop or other TWAIN-compliant imaging applications to scan a document, the ADF is not supported. To use the ADF, use Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard or the TWAIN driver to scan a document. (10) When you click the [Cancel] button to cancel scanning of a document using Photoshop or other TWAIN-compliant imaging applications, restart the application to scan the document. (11) If you use the OKI MFP on which the user authentication is effective, perform the following procedure before scanning. When you use Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard: 1. On the [Choose Scanning Preferences] window, click the [Custom Settings] button. 2. When the Properties dialog box is displayed, click the [Device Setting] tab. 3. Click the [User Authentication] button in the User Authentication box. 4. When the User Authentication dialog box is displayed, input correct certification information in each field and click the [OK] button. When the driver is used from another application, configure similar settings in the Properties dialog box. Troubleshooting ====================== 1. Cannot find the MFP. [Problem Description] Even the Local Discovery function cannot find the MFP. [Corrective Action] Please check the following: - The MFP and PC are connected to the network via TCP/IP. - The gateway setting is correct in the case that the device is in the different subnet area. 2. Cannot connect the MFP which was found by the Local Discovery function. [Problem Description] The MFP was found by the Local Discovery function but cannot be connected after being selected. [Corrective Action] (1) Check that the Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 or later is installed. (2) Check that the proxy setting of the Microsoft Internet Explorer is correct so that the MFP can be connected. (3) Check that the Microsoft Internet Explorer is online.
